1. License Grant

Subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement, the developer ("Licensor") grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, worldwide license to download, install, and use yt-dlp-desktop-gui solely for your personal, non-commercial, or educational purposes.

2. Nature of the Software & Third-Party Dependencies

• Graphical User Interface Only: The Software functions primarily as a graphical user interface (GUI) wrapper designed to interact with third-party command-line utilities, including but not limited to yt-dlp and ffmpeg.
• Third-Party Open Source Components: The underlying components used or invoked by the Software are subject to their respective open-source licenses (e.g., The Unlicense, GPL, LGPL, or MIT). This Agreement does not restrict, grant, or overwrite any rights granted under those underlying open-source licenses.
• No Hosting or Content Provision: The Software does not host, stream, store, distribute, or directly provide any media, copyrighted files, or digital content.

3. Restrictions on Use & Compliance with Laws

You agree to use the Software strictly in compliance with all applicable local, national, and international laws, regulations, and third-party terms of service. Specifically:

• Copyright Compliance: You must only download, process, or convert content that you own, have an explicit legal license to use, or that is within the public domain/under an open license (e.g., Creative Commons), or where your use constitutes fair use under applicable law.
• No Circumvention: You agree not to use the Software to bypass, disable, or circumvent effective technological protection measures (DRM) or digital restrictions implemented by copyright owners or platforms.
• Third-Party Terms: You acknowledge that downloading content from third-party websites may violate those websites' Terms of Service. You assume full legal responsibility for ensuring your use of the Software complies with the policies of any platform you interact with.

4. Prohibited Uses

You shall not:

• Use the Software for any commercial purpose, commercial distribution, or monetized service without express written permission from the Licensor.
• Use the Software to infringe upon the intellectual property, privacy, or legal rights of any individual or entity.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Licensor does not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that it will remain compatible with external third-party sites or utilities (such as yt-dlp), which may change or break compatibility at any time.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the Licensor or contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages (including, but not limited to, loss of data, loss of use, legal fees, or interaction with third-party platforms) however caused and on any theory of liability, whether in contract, strict liability, or tort, arising in any way out of the use of this Software.

7. User Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Licensor from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your access to, misuse of, or illegal use of the Software or violation of this Agreement.

8. Termination

This Agreement is effective until terminated. Your rights under this license will terminate automatically without notice if you fail to comply with any of its terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Software and delete all copies in your possession.

9. Severability & Governing Law

If any provision of this Agreement is held to be unenforceable or invalid, such provision will be changed and interpreted to accomplish the objectives of such provision to the greatest extent possible under applicable law, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
